Frequently Asked Questions

Q. "What is LO-V.O.C.?"
A. LO-V.O.C. cement produce significantly less amounts of "V.O.C.'s". V.O.C. stands for volatile organic compounds which are unhealthy when breathed or ingested. V.O.C.'s also diminish air quality. Please read and follow all directions carefully when applying these cements.

Q. "How do I glue ABS pipe?"
A. To glue ABS pipe, check that any cut ends are fairly straight. Remove any burrs with a knife or emery cloth and clean both pieces with a rag. Apply ABS glue to both the pipe and fitting.

Q. "What is ABS?"
A. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene - it's a thermoplastic used to make molded products such as pipes/fittings.

Q. "What is PVC?"
A. Polyvinyl chloride - it is a very common thermoplastic polymer widely used in pipe systems.

Q. "How do I glue PVC pipe?"
A. To glue PVC pipe, check that any cut ends are fairly straight. Remove any burrs with a knife or emery cloth and remove any dirt with a rag. Clean pipe and fitting with an approved, listed PVC Primer. The Primer softens the plastic and allows the glue/cement to penetrate into the pipe and the fitting creating a solvent weld. Apply a liberal coat of cement to the pipe the depth of the fitting socket. Make sure entire pipe end is coated. Apply a thin coat of cement to the inside of the fitting. Avoid puddling the cement as this can cause weakening and premature failure to the pipe or fitting. Apply a second coat of cement to the pipe. Cement must be fluid. If cement surface has dried, re-coat both parts. Push pipe into fitting using a 1/4 turn motion until pipe bottoms in socket. Hold pipe and fitting together for 30 seconds to prevent pipe push-out. Allow cement to dry and cure. We believe the longer the cement is allowed to cure the stronger the cement bond with the pipe and fitting will be.

Q. "Do you offer PVC primer?"
A. We are sorry, but we have not found a brand of primer that we are confident will not leak in transit. It is highly flammable and in our opinion, too dangerous to ship.
