Seems redundant to put up an Instructables. Yet not allow anyone to be able to read the measurements ? Does logic and reason have no relevance to the purpose of * Instructables *

    Has anyone actually made this?
In the picture it shows the main post as a 4" square tube but in the instructins, it shows two I beams welded together?????

yes I did I tweeked a few things due to me not having exactly what was called for in the plans I used a round ram instead of a square one but it still works great I think this way to build a power hammer is easier to build instead of building the tire hammer

About how much did it cost? Won't be able to make it for awhile, but trying to figure out costs when I can. Thanks

When uploading. People should validate the quality of uploads. As some.. such as this. Can not be downloaded and printed with any legibility

Yes, the pdf is not readable.
However, you can get readable drawings by downloading each step individually.

Just click on the image and it will open larger in the browser.
Then right click and save it to your hard drive.
Once the images are on your hard drive you can enlarge them further with an image
    manipulation program. (https://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm)

    easy peasy

I downloaded and printed this. Yet I have to ask.. how the hell can anyone ready the design plans when one cant even read the measurements. Why bother helping others if the help is conditional. In doing so. You have proven your arrogance and ignorance.

How can I download the plans? It keeps verifying my email and I can’t download it.

Step 6 and 7 are the same. The designs have everything, except the arm for the hammer itself. I believe that is step 6. Or Sheet 6 of 17.

Well, the design does have a few flaws, and there's no real help as far as text, or part numbers or anything like that. It needs a safety cage of some kind around that rear linkage, as mentioned above, or it could be very dangerous if there were a failure.

Interesting design, looks like it could be a pretty effective power hammer.

Biggest concern... there are no SAFETY GUARDS!

As the design stands, the rear linkage could easily severely injure or kill someone should it break off during use (this can, and has happened with similar designs). If it does break off, it will flail around and could strike or impale the operator.

A sturdy safety cage around the rear linkage (in front and behind) would be a must for this design to be considered safe enough to operate.

That's what I thought when I was looking at the design. I don't know anything about these hammers, but I know mechanical stuff, and could see that if one of a couple of crucial connections failed, it could be very dangerous. Thanks for saying this. It makes me glad I could spot the flaws in the design.

Its actually called an oliver hammer if im not wrong..the springs prevent the hammer to come crashing down on the work piece like so...>

I know you probably forgot this comment about 7 years, 11 months, and 29 days ago (in other words, almost immediately after you wrote it), but do you have any more information about the olive hammer you mentioned here? I'm learning, and would love to be able to put together something like it (I do have a background in mechanic work and metal fabrication). Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
